Toilet TypesTwo Piece Toilet
A two piece toilet is made of two separate pieces of vitreous china, a holding tank and a bowl. The holding tank is mounted on the bowl by the installer using washers, nuts and bolts. Two piece toilets are often called "close-coupled" in reference to this mounting system and are the most common toilets on the market. The Flushmate model number for this type of toilet always begins with M-101526.

We've been happy with our Flushmate powered toilet since 1992, but the old Metal Tank in our 501A flusher got to the point where it would not hold pressure overnight, so we ordered this complete replacement. The work to replace the flushmate innards took less than an hour, with some additional time to complete adjustments of the cartridge and flush button. Our unit arrived with the upper supply insufficiently tight where screwed into the tank, so I had to cut off the hose clamp, tighten the upper supply (anti-vacuum and air-inducer assy) then re-connect the hose with a small hose clamp. All is well now. Two things to note: - the first time you turn on the water to a new unit like this, it'll leak out of the anti-vacuum valve for a few seconds. - unlike our original 501A tank system, the design of this unit may require that the entire tank be removed in order to replace the lower supply assy. Luckily, in our experience, these parts last well over a decade before failing.

This unit does not provide the same pressure as original metal tank. Both are 1.6 g flush.

I've owned a Flushmate since 1993. The old tank finally went bad. Called Sloan & replacement sent out. I'm a big fan of pressure assisted toilets, especially since we're dealing with low water consumption.......and a big fan of Sloan. I would never be without a Flushmate tank system. Never felt you could go wrong with this product.

My old 501A from 1996 was on its last legs and Bobby in Tech Support told me that alas it was time to replace the unit. He walked me through the details, gave me the part numbers, answered all my questions about compatibility. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with my questions. I received the replacement unit yesterday and this morning set about installing it. The instructions were all perfectly clear and everything was going well until I hit a snag on the tank-to-bowl gasket. The new gasket appeared too large and incompatible with the old. So I called Tech Support again and spoke with Martin, who reassured me it was normal — a universal gasket that compresses — and walked me through how to reattach the tank. Ten minutes later the job was completed with no "New System Adjustments" required. Their Tech Support department is top notch. Five stars.
